Honest comparison

Booking direct versus an online marketplace

Marketplaces like GetYourGuide, Viator and Civitatis sell quad rides in Merzouga, and behind almost every listing is a local operator like us. The ride is the same. What changes is the price and how much can be adjusted once you are here.

Where the extra money goes

A marketplace takes a commission on every booking, typically in the region of twenty to thirty percent. That commission pays for their marketing and their customer service, not for a better quad or a better guide.

When you message us directly, that margin simply is not in the price. The figures on our prices page are the direct figures.

What booking direct changes on the day

A marketplace booking is a fixed product: a set duration, a set start time and a set meeting point. Changing it means cancelling and rebooking.

Booking direct, you message us the night before and move your start time because the wind picked up, add a second quad because friends joined, or stretch a one-hour ride into two while you are already out. It is one WhatsApp message.

  • Start times adjusted to your arrival or your hotel dinner
  • Extra quads added at short notice, subject to availability
  • Route changed for wind, heat or a family with young children
  • Free pickup across Merzouga and Hassilabied

When a marketplace makes sense

We would rather be honest than pushy. If you want to pay by card in advance, want a booking covered by a large platform's cancellation policy, or simply feel safer with a familiar checkout, use one. You will still ride with local operators.

We take no deposit and no prepayment, which some travellers love and others find unfamiliar. Both are valid.

How booking direct with us works

Send a WhatsApp message or the contact form with your date, rough time and number of riders. We reply with a fixed total per quad, in writing, before you commit to anything.

There is no deposit. You pay in cash, in euros or dirhams, at the end of the ride. If your plans change, one message is enough to move or cancel.

Frequently asked questions

Booking direct versus an online marketplace

Is booking direct cheaper?

Yes, because there is no platform commission in the price. The saving is typically the twenty to thirty percent a marketplace adds.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No. A WhatsApp confirmation holds your slot and you pay at the end of the ride.

How do I know the booking is confirmed?

You get a written confirmation on WhatsApp with the date, the time, the meeting arrangement and the total price per quad.

What if I already booked through a platform?

That is completely fine. Turn up and enjoy the ride. If you want to extend it once you are out on the dunes, just ask your guide.
